1.South Australia traditional sea shanty、

1) In South Australia I was born, Heave away, Haul away!

In South Australia ‘round Cape Horn. And we’re bound for South Australia.

So haul away your rolling King. Heave away, Haul a way!

Oh, heal away you’ll hear me sing. And we’re bound for South Australia.

2) As I walked out one morning fair, Heave away, Haul away!

‘Twas there I met Miss Nancy Blair. And we’re bound for South Australia.

So haul away your rolling King. Heave away, Haul a way!

Oh, heal away you’ll hear me sing. And we’re bound for South Australia.

3) There’s just one thing that grieves my mind, Heave away, Haul away!

To leave Miss Nancy Blair behind. And we’re bound for South Australia.

So haul away your rolling King. Heave away, Haul a way!

Oh, heal away you’ll hear me sing. And we’re bound for South Australia.

4) I wish I was in Australia’s strand, Heave away, Haul away!

A glass of whisky in my hand. And we’re bound for South Australia.

So haul away your rolling King. Heave away, Haul a way!

Oh, heal away you’ll hear me sing. And we’re bound for South Australia.

5) A glass of rum in every hand, Heave away, Haul away!

And an extra bottle for the shanty man. And we’re bound for South Australia.

So haul away your rolling King. Heave away, Haul a way!

Oh, heal away you’ll hear me sing. And we’re bound for South Australia.

2. The Mermaid traditional sea shanty、

La la la la la la la la la

1)     One Friday morn, when we set sail, And our ship not far from land,

We there did espy a fair pretty maid, With a comb and a glass in her hand, her hand, her hand. With a comb and a glass in her hand.

While the raging seas did roar. And the stormy winds did blow.  And we, jolly sailor boys, were up, up a loft, And the land lubbers lying down, below, below, below. And the land lubbers lying down below.

2) Then up spoke the Captain of our gallant ship, who at once our peril did see,

“I have married a wife in fair London town, and this night she a widow will be, will be, will be, And this night she a widow will be.”

For the raging seas did roar, and the stormy winds did blow,  And we, jolly sailor boys, were up, up a loft, And the land lubbers lying down, below, below, below. And the land lubbers lying down below.

3) And then up spoke the little cabin boy, and a fair hair’d boy was he,

“I’ve a father and mother in fair Portsmouth town, and this night they will weep for me,   for me, for me, And this night they will weep for me.”

For the raging seas did roar, and the stormy winds did blow, did blow.

4) Then three times round went our gallant ship, and three times round went she;

For the want of a lifeboat they all went down, as she sunk to the bottom of the sea, the sea, the sea,

As she sunk to the bottom of the sea,

For the raging seas did roar, and the stormy winds did blow.  And we, jolly sailor boys, were up, up a loft,

And the land lubbers lying down, below, below, below. And the land lubbers lying down below, below, below, below, below, below, below, And the land lubbers lying down below, below.

3. Blow the man down traditional sea shanty、

Oh, oh, blow the man down, bullies, blow the man down, to me way, ay, blow the man down.

Oh, blow the man down, bullies, blow him away, Say ! Gimme some time to blow the man down.

Oh the rags they were gone, and the chains they was jammed, to me way, ay, blow the man down,

And the skipper says he, “Let the weather be hanged.” Oh, gimme some time to blow the man.

So we’ll blow the man up, and we’ll blow the man down, to me way, ay, blow the man down,

And we’ll blow him away into Liverpool town, Oh, gimme some time to blow the man down.

Blow the man down.

7. Rolling home traditional sea shantyNorman Luboff

1) Rolling home, Rolling home, Rolling Home across the sea,

La, …

Sail along, silv’ry moon, Trail along lovers’ lane. Sail along, silv’ry moon. To my love again.

In the glow of your light, Let me see her tonight, Once again hold her tight, Back in lovers’ lane.

And then the whole world will seem brighter, As we stroll hand in hand.

Two blue hearts will seem lighter, You understand.

Sail along, silv’ry moon, Trail along lovers’ lane. Sail along, silv’ry moon. To my love again.

La la la la la la, La la la la la la, La la la la la la, La la la la la.

La la la la la la, La la la la la la, La la la la la la, La la la la la,

And then the whole world will seem brighter, As we stroll hand in hand.

Two blue hearts will seem lighter, You understand.

La la la la la la,  La la la,  La la la la la la,  La la la.

La la la la la la,  La la la,  La la la la la la,

And then the whole world will seem brighter, As we stroll hand in hand.

Two blue hearts will seem lighter, You understand.

Sail along, silv’ry moon, Trail along lovers’ lane. Sail along, silv’ry moon. To my love again.

To my love again, To my love again, To my love again.

Uh-, Uh-, Uh-, Uh-, Ah-, Ah-, Ah-, Ah-, Pearly shells.

For ev’ry grain of sand upon the beech I’ve got a kiss for you,

And I’ve got more left over for each star that twinkles in the blue.

Uh-, Uh-, Uh-, Uh-, Ah-, Ah-, Ah-, Ah-, Pearly shells.

Pearly Shells from the ocean, shining in the sun, covering the shore.

When I see them, My heart tells me that I love you more than all the little Pearly Shells.

For ev’ry grain of sand upon the beech I’ve got a kiss for you,

And I’ve got more left over for each star that twinkles in the blue.

Pearly Shells from the ocean, shining in the sun, covering the shore.

When I see them, My heart tells me that I love you more than all the little Pearly Shells.

Ah- Ah- Ah- Ah, Ah-, Pearly Shells.

3. Cruising Down the River 作詞・作曲:Eily Beadell and Nell Tollerton、編曲:篠田昌伸

Hm Hm Hm Hm

Cruising Down the River on a Sunday afternoon.

With one you love, the sun above waiting for the noon.

The old accordion playing a sentimental tune,

Cruising Down the River on a Sunday afternoon.

The birds above all sing of love, a gentle sweet refrain.

The winds around all make a sound like softly falling rain.

Just two of us together we’ll plan a honeymoon.

Cruising Down the River on a Sunday afternoon.

Hm Hm Hm Hm

4. The Leaving of Liverpool traditional sea shanty、

1) Farewell to you my own true love, I am going far away,

I am bound for California, But I know that I’ll return some day.

So fare thee well my own true love, and when I return united we will be,

It’s not the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me, But my darling when I think of thee.

2) I have sailed on a Yankee Sailing ship, Davy Crockett is her name,

and Burgess is the Captain of her, and they say that she’s a floating Hell.

So fare thee well my own true love, and when I return united we will be,

It’s not the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me, But my darling when I think of thee.

3) On the sun is on the harbour love, And I wish I could remain,

For I know it will be a long long time before I see you again.

So fare thee well my own true love, and when I return united we will be,

It’s not the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me, But my darling when I think of thee.

So fare thee well my own true love, and when I return united we will be,

It’s not the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me, But my darling when I think of thee.

5. Red Sails in the Sunset

T’was down where fisher folk gather, I wandered far from the throng,

I heard a fisher girl singing, And this refrain was her song.

1) Red sails in the sunset, way out on the sea, Oh carry my loved one, home safely to me.

2) He sailed at the dawning, all day I’ve been blue, Red sails in the sunset, I’m trusting in you.

Swift winds you must borrow, make straight for the shore,

We marry tomorrow, And he goes sailing no more.

3) Red sails in the sunset, way out on the sea, Oh carry my loved one, home safely to me.

4) Lu lu lu….

Swift winds you must borrow, make straight for the shore,

We marry tomorrow, And he goes sailing no more.

5) Red sails in the sunset, way out on the sea, Oh carry my loved one, home safely to me.

Home, home, home, home, safely to me.

2. Away from the Roll of the Sea

Hm, Small craft in a harbor that’s still and serene, give no indication what their ways have been.

They rock at their moorings, all nestled in dreams. Away from the roll of the sea.

Their stern lines are groaning a lullaby air, a ghost in the cuddy, a gull on the spar.

But never they whisper of journeys a far, away from the roll of the sea.

Oh had they the tongues for to speak, what tales of adventure they’d weave.

But now they are anchored to sleep and slumber alee.

Come fair winds to wake them tomorrow we pray.

Come harvest a plenty to them ev’ry day. ‘till guided by harbour lights there home to stay.

Away from the roll of the sea, away from the roll of the sea.

Deep river, my home is over Jordan, deep river, Lord! I want to cross over into campground.

Deep river, my home is over Jordan, deep river, Lord! I want to cross over into campground.

Oh, don’t you want to go to the Gospel, Gospel feast, Oh! promis’d land where all is peace.

Oh! Deep river, Lord! I want cross over into campground.

Oh! Deep river, my home is over Jordan. Deep river Lord! I want cross over into campground.

I want cross over into campground.
